Inclement Weather
In cases of inclement weather the Athenaeum will be closed when the Philadelphia public schools are closed.

The Athenaeum is located on the east side of Washington Square below Walnut St.
Parking
There are two parking garages a half a block south of the Athenaeum on 6th St.; both are connected to condominium buildings. The Independence Place garage (east side) is a self-park facility. The Hopkinson House garage (west side) offers valet parking.
There is one handicapped parking space available
in the Athenaeum garden. To access this space, make a left from
6th St. onto St. James St., which runs along the side of the Athenaeum.
The driveway entrance is just after the Athenaeum building on the right.
