Folding fan with single paper pleated leaf, advertising the Red Star Line transatlantic passenger service. The leaf is printed with images of a couple in masquerade costume amid festive paper lanterns. Sticks and guards are wood; the front (right) guard is stamped RED STAR LINE.

The Red Star Line operated between 1873 and 1935. Its main ports of call were Antwerp in Belgium, Liverpool and Southampton in Great Britain, and New York City and Philadelphia in the United States.
